Why Does the U.S. Still Use Pennies?

Keeping the one-cent coins in circulation is an outdated and very expensive policy

It's time to kill the penny. It costs more than one cent to make each coin. No one really likes dealing with them--businesses and consumers alike. So why are they still in circulation in the U.S.? It's largely due to aggressive political lobbying from the manufacturers.
