Today, the fall of the Berlin Wall represents the unification of Germany, after decades of severe political discord. So it's easy to think of the fall as the result of a strategic national decision, where leaders gathered and decided to unify. Or as a result of some fierce battle. And to some degree, political tensions certainly had their hand... But, the immediate causes of what brought down the wall were actually, a series of blunders and accidents.
