Known on Instagram for the elaborate and chic camper vans he builds, Jay Nelson began working with wood and building structures when he was young and still in school. He explains the joy of the hunt that has become integral to his building process, insisting on only using reclaimed wood that he restores himself.
"Everything kind of has a story and comes from somewhere," said Jay. "And then also, not just that I know the story, but also visually, they have a story."
Jay tours a treehouse he built in Northern California with Laura Ling, and explains some of the tougher elements of the tiny home's construction process, as well as what inspires his work.
