Everyone enjoys a good treehouse. From youthful hideaways that double as castles and pirate ships to stunning feats of architecture that allow whole families to live among nature, these often-handmade constructions may be one of the most universally beloved structures. There is even an entire non-profit organization devoted to treehouses, called the International Treehouse Association (ITA).

Founded by Kevin Mooney, owner of Treehouse Brewing Co. - which, yes, is in a treehouse - this organization is intent on forwarding the art of treehouse building. They want to expand treehouse development through helping people create their own sound and legal structures. The ITA also wants to catalog treehouse building practices, particularly those that protect surrounding nature and use sustainable methods. This organization truly believes that treehouse living can improve people's quality of life.
Beyond promoting the treehouse way of life for those old enough to make their own, ITA also plans to brings kids from inner city areas out to Mooney's 75-acre property, complete (of course) with two treehouses. The organization wants to expand this practice, making outdoor experiences more accessible to children and young adults around the country through camping, nature lessons, hiking, and even instruction on treehouse creation.
