What do the Zodiac constellations have to do with science?

Ancient societies used the stars to make their world easier to predict and understand,

and the reasons the Zodiacs stood out to ancient stargazers are why they're still important to astronomy today.

If you could see the stars during the day, you'd see the sun move along a path

from one constellation to the next over the course of a year.

This line is called the ecliptic.

Most of the major celestial bodies in our solar system, including the moon, move near the ecliptic.
