Culled from nearly 3,000 entries, the Zoological Society of London (ZSL) has announced the 2016 winners of its annual ZSL Animal Photography Prize. The overall top prize went to Pratik Pradhan for this fan-throated lizard. Pradhan got the shot on the Chalkewadi plateau in India.
"I observed this male who repeatedly took the same path while scanning his territory and checking out all of the females," Pradhan said in a statement. "It was not easy to maintain a sharp focus on the lizard running towards me while keeping it at eye level -- it took me three years to capture this image the way I wanted."
