A San Diego seafood restaurant hosted a scene both heartwarming and a tad sad, as a sea lion was found cozied up for warmth in a booth at The Marine Room.
The executive chef, Bernard Guillas, took a series of photos and posted them to his Facebook page.
VIDEO: Sea Lions Can Keep A Beat
According to San Diego's Fox 35, the young sea lion pup, malnourished and underweight, was rescued by a crew from Sea World (see the video below). Experts explain that very high and low tides in the area leave the animals searching for higher ground and a warm place to crash.
The pup got a nice meal right away and will be protected until its weight rebounds.
"It's early on in this animal's rehabilitation and its condition is guarded, but we are cautiously optimistic," a Sea World official told Fox 35.
