A View of the Unnatural World From Space: Photos
The Daily Overview presents an unusual perspective of Earth's man-made structures, taken by satellite.
The
curates satellite images inspired by the "overview effect" -- the sense that astronauts experience after viewing Earth as a whole when they spend long periods in space. The site's founder, Benjamin Grant, adds a new image each day, taken from Apple Maps. And then he crops and tones the photos to accentuate "places and moments where human activity -- for better or worse -- has changed the landscape," Grant says.
