Eating Breakfast With Giraffes In Africa
Explore what it's like to live amongst giraffes at this exotic hotel.
If you're in need of a vacation experience outside the typical bed and breakfast or hotel scene, look no further than Giraffe Manor in Nairobi, Kenya. This magical, wildlife wonderland has animals roaming freely around the ground, including, as the name would suggest, several giraffes. There are currently nine Rothschild giraffes at the manor, one of the most endangered species of giraffe in the world.

Giraffe Manor is equipped with tasty giraffe treats in pellet form, all throughout the grounds. The resident giraffes will expect you to offer them whenever they approach. At first the feeling of an incredibly long, blue/grey giraffe tongue can be a little startling, but you'll get used to it quickly. The treats will become especially useful during mealtimes when the giraffes will often poke their heads through the dining room window, trying to sneak a taste of your people food.
Close to the mansion, other forms of wildlife can be fawned over at the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, where you can watch baby elephants eat and splash around in mud pits during the day. Their entire life story will most certainly be shared with you by the staff.
You'll look forward to returning to Giraffe Manor in the evening, where you can curl up on a beautiful wool rug next to a massive fireplace with one of the many nature books from their extensive collection. Before bed you'll find a hot water bottle under your sheets and a giraffe fun fact card on the nightstand. Nature, hospitality, and giraffes literally at your fingertips. What more could you want from an African vacation?
