When he's not trying to commercialize space travel, billionaire physicist Elon Musk is pulling out all of the stops on his electric car company, Tesla. He recently bought the solar-power firm, SolarCity, and is nearly finished building the Gigafactory battery factory.
It's all part of his master plan to create an affordable electric car with a high-density battery that can store solar-generated energy. In doing so, Musk hopes to accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energy.

But over in China, Shenzhen-based Build Your Dreams, run by CEO Wang Chuanfu, is well beyond Musk in the electric vehicle/battery/sustainable energy realm and it's high time you finally heard about them, reports Green Tech Media.
Whereas Tesla has an electric sedan, BYD has electric cars, buses and delivery vans in production with plans to develop a sports car. (They also have plenty of hybrid cars as well as gas-powered vehicles.)
In 2015, BYD sold 62,000 cars compared to Tesla's 51,000. Cars aside, it's surprising -- and also great news for cities -- that BYD has four electric-bus factories and shipped 10,000 electric buses already this year with 7,000 more on order.
