Luckily for us, Sanctuary Cruises was taking customers on a whale-watching tour nearby and the video above was the result.
"Two kayakers were almost crushed to death by a massive, near full-size humpback whale," tour boat Captain Michael Sack told KSBW.
The whales had been feeding on krill and anchovy balls, and one of them decided it was time to do a full breach, with the kayakers just beneath it.
KSBW reports the kayakers, a man and a woman, were thrown from their kayak and plunged underwater. Fortunately, they had their life vests on and were assisted by other kayakers nearby.
The pair miraculously avoided a direct pummeling from the 33-ton creature. "I'm not sure if at this point these two know how lucky they were," Sack said.
