BMW has unveiled the i8 Concept Spyder, which is a new topless version of the BMW i8 concept. The i8 Concept Spyder has everything we love about the i8 concept hybrid supercar, but its fixed roof and two rear seats have been deleted.
The i8 Concept Spyder is powered by a 354 horsepower hybrid system, which has an electric motor that sends its power to the front wheels, while the three-cylinder gasoline engine sends its power to the rear wheels. The concept has the ability to send power through the front, rear or all four wheels at the same time. BMW claims that it can also drive up to 19 miles on electric power alone and the lithium-ion battery pack can be recharged using a standard outlet in less than two hours. Even though the i8 Spyder Concept places an emphasis on fuel efficiency, it can reach 0-62 mph in five seconds and has an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph. It also gets 94 mpg on the European cycle.
