For clues into how people form strong or weak social networks, psychologists looked at a phenomenon called attachment style — and they found some surprising online behavior.

S S ocial networks existed long before Facebook. They are the webs of interpersonal relationships — some close and strong, some distant and weak — that can greatly impact our quality of life, from our sense of self-esteem to mental and physical health to even life expectancy. The closer the ties and the more varied the relationships in our social networks, the more secure and supported we feel.
