The photographer aims to shoot images across the 40th parallel north, along the 40 degree latitude across the United States, at every whole degree longitude, PetaPixel reports. The 40th parallel north covers the following states: California, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, Nebraska, Kanasas, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, West Virginia, Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
After a friend had told Myren that the 40th parallel was the baseline for creating townships and homesteads, he found himself compelled "to document these arbitrary points of human measurement and the landscape found at the intersections."
He's photographed 28 of his 52 sites with his 8×10 Deardorff camera and color transparency film, shooting three frames and printing them together. The project has been helped by Kickstarter, which raised $17,860, and he plans to capture the remaining points by next year. Check out some of his panoramas on his website.
