Saved Climber Was Trapped a Week: A 70-year-old German alpinist who had been hiking in southwestern Austria became trapped in an ice crevasse for about a week before he was rescued. The man was climbing the Alps at an altitude of about 9,000 feet when he crossed over a snow bridge that suddenly collapsed beneath him, plunging him 60 feet into a deep crevasse. It took nearly a week until other hikers came along and heard his cries for help. The man was rescued and airlifted to a hospital, where officials reported that the man was only slightly injured in the fall and suffered from hypothermia and exhaustion. via NY Daily News
