While for most beer enthusiasts, enjoying a cold one outside of a pint glass qualifies as pure blasphemy, the fact is that beer has a lot to offer when it comes to the culinary world. With it’s complex flavors, and varying styles, beer can be a complex and unique addition to almost any recipe. Like this beer-poached pear recipe. And this is especially true when it comes to cocktails. Basically, beer can be used in almost any recipe requiring soda water.
3 ounces American IPA (we used Bison’s Organic IPA)
1/2 ounce apricot jam
1 ounce fresh lime juice
1 ounce fresh lemon juice
1 1/2 tequila
1. I call this recipe a Roasted Apricot Margarita because of the apricot jam. While it isn’t swimming with notes of apricot, the stone fruit is present in a way that makes the margarita both savory and refreshing. You want to start with the jam because the citrus juice that is to follow will help mix it together.
2. Slice the citrus fruit and juice it.
3. Add all remaining ingredients and give it a thorough shake.
4. Pour and serve!
