When travelers finally board a plane, they just want to take off and arrive at their destination, not spend five minutes listening to the crew talk about in-flight safety. More than likely, they already know the drill.
But Air New Zealand’s new safety video is completely worth watching — even if you’re not on a plane (right now for instance). Showing pride in its national heritage (or Hollywood celebrity for its picturesque landscapes), the airline’s video makes use of J.R.R. Tolkien’s characters from “The Hobbit” to teach us about safety belts, inflatable vests and rules about electronics.
