NY Marathon Still On: As of Tuesday evening, the NY Marathon is still on. Mayor Michael Bloomberg said that the race would go on as scheduled, but that more details would be provided Wednesday. Many of the city’s bridges and tunnels reopened Tuesday afternoon, but some roads remain impassable. And it's unclear if any part of the 26.2-mile course is still underwater. Although race extends through all five boroughs, it does not pass through lower Manhattan, which received the brunt of Sandy's intensity. The challenge may be getting to the starting line on Staten Island, however. The ferry leaves from Battery Park, which is located on the south tip of Manhattan and although the ferry may be running, subways leading to it may not.
