With the end of the space shuttle program, it was time to retire our spaceships. Piggybacking on a modified Boeing 747, the shuttles were flown around the country to their final resting places.
How does NASA get a space shuttle on the back of a Boeing 747 — called the Shuttle Carrier Aircraft (SCA)? Lucky for us, they had the cameras rolling when they put the Endeavour on the back of the SCA for the flight to Los Angeles. This is the last time a space shuttle will be flown over the United States, effectively and finally putting an end to the space shuttle program. via NASA
