Gun Deaths To Outpace Traffic: The number of people killed by guns will outpace the number killed in traffic accidents by 2015, Bloomberg Businessweek reports.

The data, compiled by Bloomberg, finds that homocide rates in general are declining, but gun deaths from murder, suicide or accident are rising again.

2011 Traffic deaths were the lowest since 1949, Bloomberg cited the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration as saying.

There's a reason for this switch, Bloomberg says: legislation. Laws have been passed for safer vehicles, reining in young drivers and wearing seat-belts. Gun laws, however, are laxer than ever before.

Fewer households own guns, but those who do own guns own more of them.
