86 Year Old Woman Is a Competitive Gymnast (Video)
Age, it seems, is no longer a relevant measurement of what a person can or cannot do. We’ve covered the 65-year-old woman who started playing hockey after her retirement and the 22-month-old toddler who climbs like a squirrel. Now, as everyone gears up for the 2012 Olympics, there’s word (and video!) of an 86-year-old woman rocking the gymnastics world.
Normally dominated by teenagers, the sport is making room for Johanna Quaas, who competed at Cottbus 2012, the pre-Olympics German event. Her floor routine is impressive, but it’s her work on the parallel bars that really wows- she spins, hangs upside down, and even planks- more than many people in their 20s can do.
While it’s safe to say that Quaas won’t be getting a ticket to London, her ability goes to show that there’s no good reason not to stay active and keep in shape. Unless, maybe, you’re 87.
